One of the hardest things to do as a mother is let your child get frustrated. For example, Michaela (21 months) gets frustrated really easy when she is trying to put her shoes on. She is so quick to throw her shoes. Then she proceeds to flop around on the floor, wailing and kicking. It is quite the scene. I don’t always swoop in and do it for her. If I did that every time, she’d never learn.
Have you ever been frustrated and angry about your situation? You may have even thought, “Where are you, God!?” He’s letting you get frustrated so you can learn and grow. God knows you can “put your shoes on”. He wouldn’t stand there and leave you helpless if He didn’t think you could handle it.
Navigating New Territory
My husband, Ryan, does most of the driving. I hate driving. It makes me anxious. When we first moved to Arkansas, I didn’t know which way was up let alone how to get from point A to point B. Ryan quickly developed his mental map of the town because he drove everywhere. Then he went back to Kansas to finish moving out of our old house. Eek! I didn’t know how to get around! (Thank God for Goggle Maps and smart phones!)
No better way to learn the route than to get behind the wheel and do it. The same principle can be applied to your life. God will show you the way but you need to be the one reading the signs, going the speed limit (or not), taking turns, passing cars, speeding up, slowing down, merging (you get the idea). Whether you know it or not, believe it or not, Jesus is in the passenger seat telling you how to get there. You just have to be listening.
You may take a wrong turn here or there and that’s OK. There is nothing wrong with getting frustrated either. Here I am learning how to put on my blogging shoes and go someplace I’ve never been before. I’ll betcha by the end of 2020, I’ll be pro! Thanks for riding along with me. I appreciate the company. Here’s to learning new things!
